Key Responsibilities
- Tax Compliance
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of corporate income tax, VAT, PAYE, withholding tax, excise duties, and other statutory obligations in Tanzania.
- Maintain compliance with Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) requirements and other regulatory bodies.
- Oversee preparation and submission of tax returns and related documentation.
- Tax Planning & Advisory
- Develop tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position while ensuring compliance.
- Provide guidance on the tax implications of business transactions, contracts, and investments.
- Advise management on changes in tax legislation and their impact on operations.
- Audit & Risk Management
- Lead and manage tax audits and investigations by TRA.
- Identify and mitigate tax risks through proactive monitoring and internal controls.
- Maintain accurate tax records and documentation for audit readiness.
- Leadership & Collaboration
- Supervise and mentor the tax team, ensuring professional development and high performance.
- Collaborate with finance, legal, and operations teams to align tax strategies with business objectives.
- Liaise with external advisors, auditors, and consultants when necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field; CPA or ACCA qualification preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive tax experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of Tanzanian tax laws, TRA procedures, and international tax principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
- High integrity and commitment to compliance.
- Strategic thinking with attention to detail.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with tax authorities and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in tax software and ERP systems.
